A remarkable achievement has been registered and a highly encouraging step was taken forward in the right direction for the establishment of the South West state of Somalia.
After three long days of consultations the constitutive assembly of elders comprising traditional leaders of the South West six regions has reached an important and milestone decision which added to success of the conference and in accordance with process design right from the beginning.
In the light of the above, the Assembly the Constitutive Traditional Elders has convened a special meeting in which they have considered the election of the chair-person for their forum in order to institutionalize the process farther.
In this special meeting, the Assembly of the Constitutive Traditional Elders, following a hearted, open and democratic debate, have successfully elected officially, in the afternoon of 3rd February 2014, Mr. Malaq Hasan Shure Mohamud, Chair-person of the Constitutive Assembly of Traditional Elders, which will from now on carry the institutional duties to complete the South West inceptional process by holding an official meeting of the Traditional Elders Assembly to elect the future president of South West state and his two deputies,following the establishment of the electoral mechanism for that purpose.
The election of Chair-person was conducted peacefully and was hailed and cheered joyfully by the delegates of the conference and the public in general.
A public gathering was held in the hall of the conference
where by the Chair of Steering Committee Hon Mr. Mohamoud Sayid Aadan, representatives of Civil Society and other prominent personalities have welcome the result of the election and praised the Constitutive Assembly of Traditional Elders for their responsible, and diligent performance, fully conscious and aware of their historic responsibilities.
